LAWEH OPEN UNIVERSITY GETS STATE-OF-ART COMPUTER LAB

Laweh Open University College has taken another giant leap in its efforts at using innovative methods of teaching to impart knowledge and skills to its student population.

On Tuesday, October 9, an energy efficient, cost and space saving computer laboratory was handed over to the University for its use. The computer laboratory consists of 20 monitors powered by only two systems unit.

With the installation of this ultra-modern network, Laweh Open University becomes the second university in Ghana after Regent University College to operate such a system.

The state-of-the-art computer technology is the brain child of Dr. Anthony Ardiabah, a Computer Architectural Engineer and CEO of FvTech Limited Canada.At the handing over ceremony, Dr. Ardiabah indicated that the new computer laboratory would be a further boost to Laweh’s plans of organising more Coding clinics for the public. In addition, he believed that the laboratory would facilitate Laweh’s efforts of getting accreditation to run ICT Programmes.

 

 

Dr. Ardiabah, who is also a software developer, revealed that novel computer arrangement was hooked onto the Africa Intellectual Database for Development & Excellence (AIDDE) e-library and e-Teaching Technology and therefore enables knowledge sharing among all the African universities.

He added that the AIDDE provided a virtual classroom platform whereby all universities, industries, institutions of higher learning, colleges, and younger children from kindergarten to junior high schools could share educational materials.

Ebenezer T. Hanson, Lecturer and Head of Communications, expressed Laweh Open University’s gratitude for the outstanding work of Dr Ardiabah and his team to the University and assured that the cutting edge computer laboratory would be put to proper use to enhance teaching and learning.
