Laweh Open University College, in collaboration with the Open University of Tanzania (OUT), has
oriented its first batch of students for the 2019/2020 academic year.
The students were guided on how to use the Learning Management System; the mode of instructional delivery; examination on demand; time management and the need to be disciplined.
The students are offering a wide range of programmes, including law, Mass Communication, journalism, business and ICT. Laweh Open University College is an affiliate of the Open University of Tanzania.
There are four admission cycles in an academic year: October, January, April and July.
In a welcome address, President of Laweh Open University College, Prof. Goski Alabi, urged the
students to take advantage of the opportunities being offered them by the University.
Prof. Alabi stressed that the University’s philosophy of ‘Useful and Applied Learning’ is predicated on the belief that knowledge acquired in the university should help one solve problems and tackle challenges in society. “Don’t go through the university without the university going through you,” she advised the
The Vice Chancellor of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT), the mentoring institution of Laweh Open University, Prof. Elifas Tozo Bisanda, said OUT is ranked as the 2nd best among the seven Open Universities in Africa, and 13th among 102 in the whole world. Thus, the students should count themselves blessed and privileged to benefit from education from one of the most reputable universities in the world.
The students were shown a video lecture on Psychology to enable them to have a feel of the form their lectures would take.
