LAWEH STUDENTS HOLD ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR

Havivi Events, a 12-member student group of Laweh Open University College, in collaboration with Youth Opportunities Ghana, has organised an entrepreneurship development seminar on campus.

The seminar focused on elements that should be in place for the success of a start-up and had Mr. Patrick Fynn, Country Head of Youth Opportunities Ghana, and Mr Emmanuel Darko, CEO of Success Network International and Preventive Health Specialist as its main speakers.

Addressing participants, which included Laweh and Nungua Senior High School students, Mr Fynn indicated that a start-up should have a mission and vision that provide direction for the business. Besides, the owner of a start-up should seek expert advice, and legalise the business.

An entrepreneur, he emphasised, should be unique through the relevant branding methods to set the business apart and to make it appealing to customers and prospects.

Mr Darko stressed the need for entrepreneurs to sharpen their marketing skills and ensure strong and effective networking in order to secure the necessary funds for expansion. He stressed the importance of maintaining hygienic practices in order to woo prospects and expand one’s market share.

Mr Patrick Eshun, Academic Affairs, Laweh Open University College, shared with the gathering Laweh’s programmes, its core values, the philosophy of removing barriers to university education and what one stands to gain as a student of the University.

At the end of the event, students of Nungua SHS were offered opportunity to ask questions and answers were provided by the resource persons. They were also taken on a tour of the campus after which they were refreshed with some Havivi products which were on display. The products comprise branded local beverages and they include asaanaa, sobolo and lamujin.

Havivi Events also created opportunity for other entrepreneurship groups in the University, including Soblend Sobolo, The Grill and La Mesa to showcase their products.
